Inauguration of '9th Annual Humanistic Management Conference: India Country Session'

Globally, the modern development models are being challenged constantly for producing the undesirable consequences, which are resulting to wider social, economic and environmental challenges across the world,”

- said Swami Tyagvallabh, a well-known spiritual leader and President of Atmiya University

while opening the India Country Session in 9th Annual Humanistic Management Conference (online) on 25th November 2021 as Chief-Guest.

The theme of the Session was ‘Humanistic Solutions for Society 5.0’.

 

Adding further, Swami Tyagvallabh highlighted,

“The philosophy of ‘Karma’ and ‘Dharma’ emphasizes the morality at the core of human behaviour. Today, the time is to re-look and re-orient our development approach to meet the requirements of sustainable planet for larger common-good.”

 

Speaking as a Session Key-Note Speaker, Prof. Pankaj Jain, Professor and Head of India Studies at FLAME University stressed the need to draw the best of different religious and philosophical traditions in shaping the more sustainable world. Citing the examples of sustainability-religious linkages in ancient Indian civilization, Prof. Jain suggested the strong need for combining Arts and Humanities with the other academic disciplines.

 

Dr. Dnyaneshwar Shelke, Chief Operating Officer of Mharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) elaborated on how during COVID-19 the challenges caused by the pandemic created pressure on the system, which was addressed by MEMS combining several innovative interventions combining conventional management with the more humanistic orientation.

 

Dr. Harpreet A De Singh, Executive Director of Air India and former CEO of Alliance Air shared her experiences in the Airline Sector and stressed that the time calls for moving beyond the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) to the next level of Pure Soul Quotient (PSQ), which sets the moral driver for humanistic behaviour in individuals, irrespective of their work and society context.

 

Mr. Gerald Jaideep, CEO of Medvarsity Limited, India presented different examples of the technology applications in improving quality and access of healthcare services for larger masses. He highlightedhow technological solutions in the healthcare and education sector can be useful for driving the development towards Society 5.0, the concept originating from Japan for more humanistic approach to technology-driven development.

 

Mr. Paresh Rawal, an Environmentalist and Social Activist from Dharampur, Gujrat shared his experiences while working for solutions to challenges faced by farmers, girl students and indigenous medicine experts in rural and remote parts of Gujrat. He highlighted the need the more contextually adapted technological solutions in driving humanistic development of rural and remote areas.

 

Concluding the session, Dr. Shiv K. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of Atmiya University, Rajkot and Humanistic Management Network India Chapter Lead stressed on essential unity of different philosophical traditions in shaping more humanistic leadership and management practices focusing on solutions.

 

While welcoming the speakers Dr. Ernst von Kimakowitz, Co-Founder of Humanistic Management Network, Switzerland highlighted the theme of the annual international conference.  The India country session was moderated by Dr. Alex Joseph, Department of Media Studies, Christ University.
