SHRI SARYU RAI, Ex Minister, MLA and veteran politician (who had defeated sitting Chief Minister of his own party BJP, after quitting the party in the last elections), said that the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties should maintain constant dialogue and that the CM should form an economic advisory committee led by an Economic Advisor to accelerate the state's development agenda.
While welcoming the guests, SHRI ONKARESHWAR PANDEY, Founder-Commonwealth Thought Leaders Forum and CEO, Golden Signatures, stressed the need to develop a knowledge-based economy and Leadership. "Knowledge Leadership is a must for the Visionary Development of Jharkhand," Mr. Pandey said. He raised the question of why Jharkhand couldn't be developed along the lines of other states like Chhattisgarh. Why couldn't Jamshedpur be developed like Bangalore and other cities, despite being nurtured and developed under the patronage of one of India's oldest and topmost corporate houses like Tatas? Why does a city like Jamshedpur still lack an Airport and a Municipal Council? "The state of Jharkhand needs a new vision and new leadership for the development," Mr. Pandey said.
In his keynote address, the retired IPS officer SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH said that the issue of original citizenship of the state should be ended by officially announcing that every person, who was living in the state at the time of creation of Jharkhand, is the original citizen of the state. While comparing Jharkhand's development with other states Mr. Singh expressed his utter shock that despite the largest producer of Coal, people of state are hiring rooms on rent in adjoining Bihar for electricity.
Mr. Singh presented a report in great detail how in the areas of Education, Health, Infrastructure, Industry, Agriculture, the state of Jharkhand is lagging behind and poverty is increasing. He said that the main reason for migration from state is economic backwardness andlack of development in the field of education and employment generation in the state. He told that after attaining class 12th, around 90% of the children go to Bangalore, Pune, and Bhubaneshwar for technical degrees. After studies, due to lack of employment here, the children have to settle outside. Due to lack of development in the field of infrastructure, power, industry, poverty has increased further in the last 22 years. He said that consecutive Governments have failed to tap the potential of Tourism in Jharkhand. He appealed all to unite to work for making a new developed state leaving aside the issues of Locals Vs Outsiders or domicile, language and other petty things.
SHRI SAMIR MOHANTY, JMM, MLA from Bahragoda expressed his sorrow on the closure of Rice Mills in his constituency. While responding to a question raised by Ms Anni Amrita, Mr Mohanty said that he will try his best to reopen the closed Rice Mills and will also work for solving the Electricity issue. He also promised that his party will not raise the issue of Locals & Outsiders anymore. He also clarified that Chief Minister Hemant Soren never raised this issue.
Senior Journalist SANJAY SAMAR talked about the need of unity among all groups for all round development of the state. Mentioning former Chief Minister Mr. Arjun Munda’s dream to develop Jharkahnd like Japan Mr. Samar said that Mr. Munda successfully invited many big Industrialists to invest in the state, but his dream could not succeed due to the petty politics of opposition parties. He also appealed the people to unite to fight against corruption.
