New Delhi, Nov 11, 2023: During his visit to Japan, V Muraleedharan, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, had productive discussions with Iwao Horii, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, on various aspects of their bilateral partnership.
Muraleedharan's visit to Japan took place from November 8 to November 10.
According to an official release from the Ministry of External Affairs, Muraleedharan also met with Taku Ishii, the Parliamentary Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
They exchanged views on topics of mutual interest. Additionally, Muraleedharan held discussions with Japanese business leaders in Tokyo and interacted with members of the Indian community in Tokyo and Osaka.
After the meeting, Muraleedharan visited the prefectures of Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Oita.
He had interactions with senior dignitaries, including the Mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, and the Governor of Oita, Kiichiro Sato.
These visits provided an important opportunity to strengthen the India-Japan relationship with these significant prefectures of Japan.
During his visit, Muraleedharan also visited the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Oita, where he delivered a lecture on the topic of "India and the Emerging World."
He also had interactions with students.
Additionally, he visited Otani University in Kyoto and unveiled a bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
Muraleedharan paid homage at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2023.
The visit of Muraleedharan aimed to further enhance the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.
During his visit, Muraleedharan shared on his official social media handle, "Reached Tokyo this morning. Look forward to my engagements, including interaction with the Indian community. India and Japan cherish a Special Strategic and Global Partnership rooted in ancient historical ties and shared values."
