Third CHIMERA 2018: AMRAPALI’s Mega Cultural Event Ends in Guwahati

Northeast India’s foremost socio-cultural organization AMRAPALI (Society for ARTS) recently organized the Cultural Extravaganza & Prize Distribution Ceremony of their 3^rd CHIMERA 2018, the Mega Cultural Event for Students on November 2, 2018 at District Library, Guwahati. The event was celebrated with grandeur wherein Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was the Chief Guest along with Guests of Honour Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma, Former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, Assam Downtown University and Sri Drona Bhagawati, Author and Social Activist.

The 3^rd Chimera 2018 had 20 competitions this year for students from Nursery to Class XII in various categories like Dance, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Creative Writing, Art, Children Fashion Show, Greeting Card Making, Children Fashion Show, etc. and the International Youth Arts Olympiad, the first ever Olympiad upon arts, culture and heritage. Students from different schools and also from districts like Sonitpur, Nagaon, Dibrugarh, Mangaldoi, etc. actively participated. The competitions were organized from October 27^th to 29^th at South Point School, Barsapara, St. Francis De Sales School, Narengi and Kanaklal Barua Bhawan auditorium, Directorate of Assam State Museum, Guwahati.

The Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi said, “I acknowledge the role of Amrapali in conceiving the designing the events like the Chimera which enters its third edition late time around. I thank Amrapali for taking the initiative for lighting and awakening our children for art and culture. I highly appreciate Amrapali for its untiring efforts and playing the role of an important catalyst in bringing about the positive impact in the growth directly to our children”.

It is worth mentioning that, a platform like the Chimera curated by Pranaame Bhagawati who is the Founder and Artistic Director of Amrapali (Society for ARTS)® is an unique and much relevant concept towards the growth and goal achievement of our future generation. Pranaame Bhagawati says, “I’m really thankful to the Governor of Assam, other dignitaries and the collaborators for making it possible on their part in making the event achieve its majestic opulence. The Chimera happens to be a very thoughtful event specifically designed for students concentrating upon artistic coherence.”

The Cultural Extravaganza & Prize Distribution Ceremony was an event not to be missed out with all the scintillating stage sets and ambience. The performances opened with an assimilated choreographic dance ‘Namami Anantaya’ and ‘Darbar’, for both music composed and directed by Rudro Jayanta Bhagawati and conceptualized and choreographed by Pranaame Bhagawati with the students from the Amrapali Institute of Arts, Guwahati. Then forward, selected participants of 3^rd Chimera 2018 performed their renditions and were very well appreciated by the public. Wamiel Pranaame Kashyap (Class IV) from St. Francis De Sales School, Narengi and Harshita Singh (Class VI) from Don Bosco School, Guwahati presented a duet Kathak dance recital, Upasna Barman (Class IV) from St. Francis De Sales School, Narengi presented a solo singing, Band of Jo presented a musical rendition with Assamese folk musical instruments and Sadhika Naorem (Class IV) from Army Public School, Narengi presented a western vocal rendition.

Rudro Jayanta Bhagawati, Chief Advisor of Amrapali congratulated all the participants for diligently portraying their artistic talents. He further adds, “I’m very much impressed with the talents that we have amongst us. These children are our cultural treasure and we will give them further platforms and scholarships from our end to encourage their potentialities.” The event was collaborated with Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam, Directorate of State Museum, Govt. of Assam, District Administration (Kamrup Metropolitan), Gauhati Artists’ Guild, South Point School (Barsapara), St. Francis De Sales School (Narengi), Oil India Limited, Infinity Infotech Business Parks, Asomiya Pratidin, Amrapali Institute of Arts, Board of Applied Integrated Arts and Amrapali Rendition Magazine.

The 3^rd Chimera 2018 is very warmly appreciated by parents and participating students. A platform of such stature is looked forward to with more added competitions and categories and it is indeed a pride that, an organization from Assam is been successfully creating ripples of success and affirmations with their visions and prospects and committedly working towards arts, culture and heritage.
