World Bamboo Workshop in Imphal From 4th to 8th Feb 2019

Imphal (Manipur), Feb 03, 2019: The 3rd World Bamboo Workshop, 2019 will be held from 4th to 8th February, 2019 at Imphal. This was announced by Principal Secretary (Trade Commerce & Industries) P. Vaiphei at a Press conference held at Conference Hall of Forest Department, in Imphal.
P. Vaiphei while giving a brief account of what will be happening in the Workshop has stated that the World Bamboo Workshop, 2019 is the third edition of 5 days event which will be held at City Convention Centre, Imphal where there will be a plenary discussion on all the five days.
“An inaugural program will be held on 4th of February and we are firming up on the dignitaries who will be inaugurating the workshop. Closing program will be on the afternoon of 8th February, 2019. During this workshop, we will have 25 stalls located within the City Convention Centre on the ground floor which will be specifically focus on Bamboo products, Bamboo technology, Bamboo related items, Vaiphei said.
He further said, “These 25 stalls will be mostly demonstrative in nature where the people of our state, anybody who is interested in Bamboo, how to use Bamboo, Handicraft items or food items or for various other resource purposes they can come and experienced it added P. Vaiphei.”
He further said that in addition, another 50 stalls will also be setting up at Hapta Kengjeibung, mostly on Bamboo but we will also be trying to showcast the rich handloom products we have along with the handicraft products.
“We have decided to give it out all the stalls on free of cost, the basic criteria for giving out the stalls is on the relevance of the people on the sector so we have given the task of identifying people who will be sitting in the stalls to each of the department concerned,” Vaiphei said.
In addition, there will be a big food Stall at Hapta Kengjeibung, where out of the five days, for 3 days we will be having Bomboo food cooking competition like bamboo cooking, Soibum, bamboo soot. We want to focus on the food aspect of Bamboo.
“We are anticipating something like 20 participants, we will be inviting food expert from outside for judges for the competition. Demonstration of the technology of Bamboo on the sideline of the workshop. These are the very important key aspect of the workshop. Our people who are not very good in talking or in learning but who are very good in Bamboo works, they can come and demonstrate it,” Vaiphei added.
