New York/Delhi, June 11, 2019: “Spiritual leaders can show the path towards achieving world peace and harmony. Spiritual knowledge is the highest form of knowledge which Spiritual Leaders possess; they can play a larger role on international platform in the decades to come.”

Mrs. Tulsi Gabbard, the candidate of United States of America Presidential election, said this while meeting  Jain Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni during his Peace and Harmony Tour in the United States of America.

Taking blessings from Jain saint for the upcoming US Presidential elections she said that the whole world is faced with spiritual crisis. She said that America has always supported the spreading of knowledge.

Mrs. Tulsi appreciating Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni’s Peace and Harmony Tour to USA said that poverty, violence and illiteracy are the major global problems.

“Political, Spiritual, Social and Business leaders of America and India can work together to solve these global problems,” Tulsi said.

She was addressing the delegation which met her in the leadership of Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni on 15th foundation year of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti. International coordinator of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti Dr Raj Bhayani and Mr Bipin Sangankar were part of the delegation.

Blessing Tulsi Gabbard for achieving victory in upcoming USA Presidential elections, Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni said “there are three key challenges before us, Terrorism, climate change and inequality. Solutions to these problems are there in Mahavir Darshan, ahimsa (non-violence), anekant (unity in diversity) and aparigriha (renunciation).”

Talking about Peace Education program Acharya Lokesh said that 21st century will be of Spirituality.

Emphasising the importance of joining religion with spirituality and science he said religion should serve the purpose of social welfare and it should help in removing social evils. Peace is necessary for development. Peace and prosperity are deeply linked.

He emphasised introducing ‘Peace Education’ as part of school education.

Acharya Lokesh informed Mrs. Tulsi about JAINA Convention 2017 to be held in LA from 4th July to 7th July 2019. In the Convention besides representatives from 69 Jain Centres of North America, more than 4000 Jain representatives from Kanada, America, Britain and India will take part. There is more than 1.5 lac Jain population in USA.

WHO IS TULSI GABBARD?

Born on April 12, 1981, in Leloaloa, Maoputasi County, on American Samoa's main island of Tutuila, Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district since 2013.

Gabbard was the fourth of five children born to Carol (née Porter) and Mike Gabbard. In 1983, when Gabbard was two years old, her family moved to Hawaii. Her father is a member of the Hawaii Senate.

Gabbard was raised in a multicultural and multireligious household. Her father is of Samoan and European ancestry and an active lector at his Catholic church. Her mother, who was born in Decatur, Indiana, is of German descent and a practicing Hindu. Tulsi chose Hinduism as her religion while she was a teenager.

Gabbard was home-schooled through high school except for two years at a missionary academy for girls in the Philippines. She graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 2009.

Following her election in 2012, she became the first Samoan American and the first Hindu member of the United States’ Congress. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

Gabbard served in a field medical unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard in a combat zone in Iraq from 2004 to 2005 and was deployed to Kuwait from 2008 to 2009. She previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004.

When she was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives at age 21, Gabbard was the youngest woman to be elected to a U.S. state legislature.

Gabbard was a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee until February 28, 2016, when she resigned to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

As of 2019 Gabbard supports abortion rights, Medicare for All and same-sex marriage.

On January 11, 2019, Gabbard announced her campaign for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in 2020.

WHO IS ACHARYA LOKESH MUNI?

Born on April 17th, 1961, Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni Ji renounced his worldly life at the young age of twenty-two and studied Jain, Budhist and Vedic philosophy. Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni is not only a social reformer, versatile thinker, writer and poet; he has also been continuously making efforts for establishing communal harmony, non- violence, peace, mutual co-operation in the society, since last 30 years.

Acharya Dr. Lokesh is master in the field of Peace Education. His vision towards establishing Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti is to join religion with social service in order to eradicate social evils from the society. Acharya Lokesh Muni has travelled extensively and addressed the world in many international conferences for Global Unity, Jainism and Vegetarianism.
