PB Acharya sworn-in as new Manipur Governor

Imphal, June 28, 2019: Governor of Nagaland Padmananada  Balkhrishna Acharya  was sworn-in as new Governor of Manipur on 27th of June 2019 at Raj Bhawan in Imphal.

The senior most judge of the High Court of Manipur Justice Lanushungkum Jamir administered him oath of office.

State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, other Ministers and MLAs of the State, leaders of political parties, top officials of civil and police administration of the State attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Nagaland Governor Acharya will serve as Governor of Manipur as an additional charge from today during the absence, on leave, of Dr Najma Heptulla, Governor of Manipur.

After the swearing, in ceremony, Governor PB Acharya said that a Governor is the constitutional head of the state and as such, he will discharge his constitutional duties sincerely.

Acharya was born in Udupi District in Karnataka.After graduation,he worked in Mumbai with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was also a member of Mumbai University's senate. He completed L.L.B degree from Mumbai university. He was also well appreciated for/ with planning the University of Delhi's Gyanodaya Express College on wheels to North East India.

Acharya was involved in the activities of Academy for Indian Tribal Dialects at Rani Ma Gaidinlu Bhavan which is a publication wing of INFC and published 10 booklets on tribal nationalist leaders including Rani Gaidinlu.

He was knee-deep in 'My Home' is India project of ABVP for the tribal children from the north east.
