CM: MANIPUR DEPENDS ON DEDICATED SERVICES OF ENGINEERS FOR PROGRESSION OF STATE

Manipur, July 07, 2019: Chief Minister N Biren speaking as Chief Guest at the Mid Term Council Meeting of the Indian Engineers' Federation (North East Region) which was organised by Engineering Association of Manipur held at Hotel Classic today stated that Engineers have a great role to play in our society. 

He said that the progress and infrastructural development of the state is wholely dependent on the services rendered by Engineers and further commented that Engineers should have the responsibility of ensuring proper planning and effective implementation of various developmental projects in the State.

The contributions of the Engineers of the state will go a long way towards achieving the goal of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas if the Engineers work collectively with full efforts along with committment in order to fulfill the all-round development, he added.

Chief Minister apprised that his government is planning to construct elevated highways and ring roads for better road connectivity in the State and in view of this plans, he said that the government has submitted a proposal with an estimated cost of around Rs.1000 crores. 

He also urged the Engineers fraternity to submit a proposal to maintain a proper transfer and postings policy of the Engineering Departments in order to streamline the Engineering Department and further said that the government will discuss apropos recreating of the post of Secretary (Technical) soon. 

He further stated that Engineers should not work under the pressure of Politicians, Bureaucrats etc. and should rather or instead concentrate by listening to their own inner consciences to execute good and better works.  

Chief Minister expressed that this type of meeting would help in bringing about better understanding, appreciation of the challenges and issues faced by the Engineering Community and thereby suggestions on how best to address them will be put into consideration.

Forest and Environment Minister Shri Th. Shyamkumar, Executive Council Members of Indian Engineers' Federation (NorthEast Region), Retd. Chief Engineers and Engineers of various Engineering Departments attended the function.
