Delhi, July 28, 2019: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani launched Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover’s biography titled ‘Bad Man’ in the national capital on July 24. Grover’s biography provides a glimpse of his life, ups and downs, his failures & his overall interesting journey.

Born on 21 September 1955, Gulshan Grover has completed 40 years in Bollywood. In his career, Grover has acted in over 400 films, including international projects. In fact, he is among the first actors to have made a successful transition from Bollywood to Hollywood and international cinema.

The quintessential bad-man of Bollywood has created a pathway into his life for his fans through his autobiography titled Bad Man, which lets readers into his journey as an actor, his personal and professional life and his struggle to become who he is today.

Gulshan Grover is called the 'Bad Man' on-screen but in real life, he is a man with a golden heart, say the actor’s friends at the launch of Gulshan's autobiography Bad Man. "You (Gulshan) are a bad man in the book, but you have a good man's heart," said actor Jackie Shroff to which his colleagues Sunil Shetty and Mahima Chaudhry also agreed.

Shetty, who has shared screen with Grover in many films, said not one but at least "400 books" needs to be written to know "the man completely", not just the actor. "They say 'friends are the family you choose', and I think we chose Gulshan. He is family, he has always been there. Be it good, bad or ugly, he is always with you.

"He calls himself 'bad man', but I don't think anyone in the industry ever believes that he has got even one little bit of that in him," Shetty added.

Launching his book in the capital today along with B-town friends Suneil Shetty, Jackie Shroff and Mahima Chaudhary, Grover expressed his gratitude for the love he has received over the years. Pratibha Advani, daughter of the former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani was also part of the book launch.

“It is a very special day for me. We have spent months putting this together, reminiscing moments from the past and penning them down. I can’t ever be thankful enough for the acceptance and love I have received in Bollywood which has helped me be here today. Finally, the autobiography is out today and I can’t wait for people to read it”, says Gulshan Grover.

Grover did not speak much during the event. However, when asked by Mahima Choudhry what he thinks was the highlight of his life so far, the 63-year-old actor replied without batting an eyelid: "Time spent with my son Sanjay." In fact, according to Grover, one of the happiest moments in his life was when his son got a plum job in the Metro Goldwyn Mayer's Motion Pictures Group as "director, special projects".

In his autobiography, co-authored by Gulshan and journalist Roshmila Bhattacharya, the popular actor gives an insight into his personal and professional life and shares about his struggles of becoming who he is today.

Published by Penguin India, in this authorized biography, Grover takes us on his life’s journey. From his ups and downs, his films, his failures, his successes, the industry in that era, to balancing Bollywood with other work and his international projects, and the magic to stay relevant, the book covers it all.

Talking about writing the book, Roshmila said, "It took five minutes for Gulshan to say yes to the book. It took us three weeks and some 15 sessions to decide on the story. We finished the book in a month and a half's time because, I think, he was particular about the details... I have never had such a great collaborator before!"

The book's title, Bad Man, is taken from the moniker, which the veteran actor earned for playing the role of popular villains in movies.

The star-studded event also saw notable people from different walks of life, including former Supreme Court judge A K Sikri and BCCI acting president C K Khanna. Sikri, who was also Grover's classmate in the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), recalled the time spent together and said he often told the actor back then that "he can't act".

"My friendship with him goes back to 1971 when we joined SRCC... Both of us were in the same class. We would tell him 'Gulshan, tu acting nahi kar sakta, chhod de' (You can't act, just leave it).
"But look where he has reached now. We all are really proud of him for what all he has achieved in his life. He is the man with the golden heart," Sikri said smilingly.
