Vijaya Bharti Sing a Song for Indian Soldiers Posted In Kashmir

Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's tireless efforts to bring peace and prosperity in the Kashmir Valley, after scrapping Article-370, Vijaya Bharti, India's famous folk singer, has sung a song for the Indian Soldiers posted in Jammu and Kashmir and also for those who are deployed on borders.

New Delhi, Aug 15, 2019: Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's tireless efforts to bring peace and prosperity in the Kashmir Valley, after scrapping Article-370, Vijaya Bharti, India's famous folk singer, has sung a song for the Indian Soldiers posted in Jammu and Kashmir and also for those who are deployed on India's borders.

Recently, Vijaya had collected and sung rare Bhojpuri folk songs, related to Mahatma Gandhi and 'Azadi' which were sung during India's freedom movement, on the occasion of Gandhi's 150th Birth anniversary. This programme was organised by IGNCA, in New Delhi. 

On Sunday, 18 August 2019, Vijaya will be performing patriotic songs in the Meghdoot Open Theatre at, Sangeet Natak Academy in Delhi. 

Last year, she had received a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who invited her to join and support the 'Beti-Bachao-Beti-Padhao' mission and also the awareness programme for malnutrition. 

Vijaya Bharti is a famous name in the world of colorful Indian folk. Although Vijaya sings in 18 Indian languages, people associate her with Bhojpuri folk music. Away from the vulgarity that's often associated with Bhojpuri music, Vijaya has created a cult status for the rich music of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the cultural and musical brilliance of these regions.

Apart from Bhojpuri, which is her forte, Vijaya sings in Maithali, Angika, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bengali, Assamese, Gadhwali, Gujrati, Haryanavi, Marathi and many more languages. A somber-looking Vijaya transforms into an electrifying performer when she takes on the stage to connect and enthrall the audience of all age groups.

Besides being a good singer Vijaya is a Writer, Composer, and Singer of repute. Her ability to write and compose her songs, which are soaked in the fragrance of Indian soil, makes her one of the leading flag bearers of the Indian folk music. Most of her songs are self written and self composed.

She has given more than 1000 live performances across India and has won the hearts of millions of her fans in Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Balia, Jhansi, Bhopal, Raipur, Guwahati, Shillong, Calcutta, Jammu, and many other places in India.

Due to her versatility, the known Bhojpuri singer has got popularity in countries like UK, Russia, Nepal, Mauritius, Holland, Belgium, the Caribbean islands etc.

Till date, more than a dozen of her music albums have been released by audio companies like T SERIES, VENUS, TIPS,RAMA. BHARTI, NEELAM cassettes etc. She has given a new dimension to the Indian folk music by experimenting and promoting traditional song and tunes.

She is also a famous TV personality. She often appears on various TV channels of India in number of TV programs.

She hosted the morning show Bihane Bihane on the leading Bhojpuri channel MAHUA continuously for FOUR Years and made a record.

Some of the TV Shows where she appeared prominently include, Bihane Bihane on Mahua TV, Bhauji No One on Mahua TV, Dhun for ETV Bihar and UP, Folk Jalwa for ETV Bihar and UP, Tere Mere Geet for ETV Bihar and UP, Subah Savere for Doordarshan, Bhojpuri Sangeetki Khoj for OHM TV Channel, Holland, Holi Hangama for ZEE TV, Rang Barse for Sahara Samay, Rang Rasia for ETV UP and Bihar and Arz Kiya Hai for NDTV.

Vijaya is an impaneled A-Grade artist of All India Radio AIR in the folk music category and also sings and appears on Doordarshan regularly. She is also impaneled with ICCR and has performed in many countries.

She has also been performing regularly in various programs organised by NCZCC, Cultural Departments of UP, Bihar, MP, Delhi and other States.

Vijaya is known for her class, graceful, non-vulgar and melodious performances all over the country and abroad.

Vijaya has done playback singing for Bhojpuri movies like Dharmyuddha, Gaon Aaja Pardesi, Toote Na Sanehiya Ke Dor, etc. along with Shaan, Amit Kumar, SadhnaSargam and Suresh Wadekar.

Late music director Ravindra Jain, who directed music for songs sung by Vijaya had said, No doubt Bollywood-Mumbai film industry has got a new musical sensation. VIJAYA HAS A LOT OF COLOUR IN HER VOICE WHICH CAN BE USED BEAUTIFULLY.

Vijaya has also produced and worked for various TV and radio documentaries and serials.

She has sung and anchored a Telefilm for a TV channel of Holland better known as OHM.

She also penned the lyrics, composed and sung for a UNICEF film Khel Se Sulekh Tak

Vijaya had sung and played a role in the Fani Talukdars Assamese TV Serial ANUSANDHAN in 1994.

A native of Bihar with Mumbai as her birthplace, Vijaya is a trained classical singer. Vijaya got her vocal training by famous Gurus Mishra Bandhu of Varanasi, UP.

She has done Masters in Music and Hindi and has also completed Ph.D. equivalent Vidyavachaspati in music.

Vijaya, indeed, stands apart in the world of Indian folk music who depend solely on their audios to carry them to fame.

Impact of the work done by the Vijaya Bharti

Vijaya Bharti has created a bridge between Bhojpuri and Assamese society by learning and singing Gwalparia folk music of Assam.

After seeing a live performance of Gwalparia Songs by Vijaya Bharti at Guwahati, famous Gwalparia folk singer PadamShree Pratima Baruah Pandey announced that only Vijaya Bharti can sing Gwalparia songs after her demise.

Contribution to the Society

Her long campaign against vulgarity in the Bhojpuri folk music has resulted in a social media campaign joined by many singers and music lovers in Bihar, UP and many parts of the country.
