Guwahati, Nov 04, 2019: “Why cannot we think and use the word Assamese in a broader sense? Assam is an integral part of India and if we look back to the days of Bhakti movement then we also realize that Shrimanta Sankardev and Mohapurush Madhabdev also had maintained a very good relationship with the gurus of other parts of the country,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Health, and Finance Minister of Assam. He was speaking on the occasion of the launch of his third book 'Bheenna Samay Abhinno Mat' at Dispur, Guwahati.
The book was released by noted educationist Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury at a function held on Sunday. And it was attended by Dr Malini Goswami, Vice-Chancellor of Women University, Jorhat, former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha Dr Dhruba Jyoti Bora, writer Anuradha Sarma Pujari and others. Renowned singer Pulak Banerjee's Sanskrit Sloka was presented on the occasion.
The book has been made available at the ongoing book fair from Monday and at other places of the State from next week.
“The book depicts how at different times, Assam had an identity of its own as an integral part of India. I have also tried to show a way as to how to secure Assam’s future,” the writer Himanta Biswa Sarma said in his address.
"This is my third book. 'Xomagoto Xomoy', and 'Onya Ek Dristikun' were my two other books released earlier. Though my first book was an expression of my own feelings, l never thought that people would accept it, but l was surprised when my publisher told me that 75 thousand copies were already sold. I was inspired, so I wrote my second book," said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
"Bhinno Xomoy Abhinno Mot' is my third book and I tried to prove it with facts and figures that our Assam is an integral part of India and if we look back to the days of Bhakti movement then we also realize that Shrimanta Sankardev and Mohapurush Madhabdev also had maintained a very good relationship with the gurus of other parts," said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
