Dire Need to Spread Happiness in the Society by Giving Care and Love: Onkareshwar Pandey

New Delhi, March 21, 2020: 

India has fallen on 144th rank in the world Index of Happiness 2020 released on Friday. 

In 2015, India was on 117 spots; in 2016 it was ranked on 118 spots. The position went down to 122 in 2017, In 2018, India was placed on 133 positions, and last year 2019 its ranking went down to 140, according to reports. 

"Happiness levels of a country are determined by various factors that include life expectancy, social support, income, freedom, trust, health, and generosity, amongst others," said Onkareshwar Pandey, a senior journalist, and CEO - Golden Signatures Research & Consulting. 

He was addressing a program as the Chief Guest, organized by Dignity India, and supported by AAROHAN, DMA, WRDF, Dignity Care India & FEDCOT India on the occasion of World Happiness Day on 20/03/2020. 

In his keynote address, Onkareshwar Pandey emphasized the dire need of raising and spreading Happiness in the society by giving Care and Love to the people around. 

Dr Arun Kumar, Chairman of Dignity India and the chief organizer of this event also spoke about the importance of spreading Happiness among all, and especially in elderly persons. 

The program, organised at Aarohan Center in B Block Malviya Nagar, New Delhi was attended by eminent personals from social work, media, advertising, business etc. The program, which was planned to be organised at a bigger level in Central Delhi, was downsized due to the fear and restrictions related to the Corona Virus outbreak.

Ms. Shree Upadhayay a well-known Actress in the Mumbai Advertising world was the guest of honour on this occasion. She was honored with Dignity India Excellence Award by Shri Onkareshwar Pandey, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Mrs. Rani Patel. 

In her address, Ms Shree emphasized the need of spreading Happiness among the women, saying if the women are happy, they can spread more happiness. She said that this is also important because mental health issues are rising in society. She thanked organizers for inviting her in this event. 

On this occasion, Mrs Rani Patel, President, Aarohan (NGO) raised her concern about growing attitude of self isolations in the people in some areas in Delhi and said, people, are so scared due to coronavirus that they are even avoiding to go to the local parks. 

Mrs. Dr Chandralekha Upadhyay, Mr. Shashi Sahay, Mr Lucky Solanki, and Kailash Kumawat also expressed their views on this occasion. 

It may be mentioned here that the World Happiness Report- 2020 has put Finland on the top spot on the most happiest country for the third consecutive year. According to the report, Finland is the happiest country amongst 156 nations surveyed by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. 

India has dropped down 27 spots in the happiness rankings as compared to its 2015 ranking. 

The immediate neighbours of India including Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are way ahead in the happiness rankings. In this report, Pakistan stands at 67th rank, China at 93, Bhutan at 95, Nepal at 100, Bangladesh at 125 and Sri Lanka at 130, leaving India way behind.

In her Address, Neha Upadhyaya, Founder, Guna Organics who works mostly in Laddakh area, described her sister Shree Upadhyaya, as her big moral support and that she spreads maximum happiness in her family.

She thanked Aarohan for space they provided for the ceremony even during the time of COVID-19 crisis and recognised their large-heartedness. “Most NGOs face many economic and political constraints but they continue their good work, their drudgery in constraints should be applauded,” Neha Upadhyay said.
