New Delhi, March 21, 2020:

A close group meeting of Think Tanks, NGOs network and representatives from research organisations announced the First India Think Tank Congress to be held on 21-22 September 2020 in New Delhi. Partners will include the think tanks, NGOs, research organisations, academic institutions, and the media. Dr Rahul Singh, Chairman World Responsible Development Foundation along with Sh Onkareshwar Pandey, senior journalist and CEO - Golden Signatures Research & Consulting and founder of Indian Thought Leaders - ITL, (a Digital Think Tank of Thought Leaders) also announced the launch of first India Think Tank Report of the nation on this occasion.

"Happiness levels of a country are determined by various factors that include life expectancy, social support, income, freedom, trust, health, and generosity, amongst others. The social networks have a significant role in making the development responsible, which will be the agenda of the first National Think Tank Congress" said Onkareshwar Pandey.

In the global pandemic, the society has missed out on the celebration of World Happiness Day, March 20 which has the significance of making the society happy and celebrate it. The times are different and it is important that we fight it out to save the society, said the co-organizer Dr Arun Kumar, Chairman of Dignity India.

Dr Rahul Singh added on the partnership of Think Tanks and network of NGOs was to create a greater network for partnership towards responsible development which will finally contribute in the Happiness of the citizens. He opined that ‘the narrative of development in recent times has been more on the western philosophy as guided by the inter-government institutions that are based on the scorecards. The Indian methods have been more holistic keeping the natural and cultural aspects also in the frame. Which is why we term this as responsible development’.

Dr Ravi Pandey, Director, WRDF added ‘the partnership of NGOs in the process is must and unavoidable. This partnership will bring in the baseline impact of the society for development and policy formation. NGOs and Think Tanks partnership are observed as the future of the responsible development’.

India is the largest democracy in the world, high impact media presence, one of the highest in the world with NGOs network, the second-largest number of think tanks at 509 and has significant possibilities of Think Tanks' role in the policymaking. However, it has very low impact when it comes to impact in policymaking, as studied by The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at Pennsylvania University, USA.

It is for the first time that an Indian institution i.e. Observer Research Foundation has come in the top 30 of the Global Think Tank ranking in 2019. The Think Tanks are powerful in shaping the policy-making of any country and also create a dialogue in the global dynamics. Dr Singh added, it is important that we have a strong presence of our Think Tanks in the country and also globally.

The program was organised jointly by Dignity India, Golden Signatures Research & Consulting, World Responsible Development Foundation, Indian Thought Leaders, and supported by AAROHAN, DMA, Dignity Care India, and FEDCOT India on the occasion of World Happiness Day on 20/03/2020. The program was organised at partner Aarohan Center in New Delhi at a reduced size due to the global pandemic problem.

On this occasion, Ms. Shree Upadhayay a well-known actress in the Mumbai Advertising world was conferred with Dignity India Excellence Award by Shri Onkareshwar Pandey, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Mrs. Rani Patel.

In her address, Ms Shree emphasized the need of spreading Happiness among the women, saying if the women are happy, they can spread more happiness. She said that this is also important because mental health issues are rising in society. She thanked organizers for inviting her to this event.
