COVID 19 in UP: Exemplary Show of Yogi Adityanath

Due to lockdown at Lucknow, the UP CM Yogi Adityanath could not attend the last rites of his father, Anand Singh Bisht, who died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Monday. This exemplary and rare decision itself shows how Yogi Adityanath is giving top priorities to his responsibilities in the fight against coronavirus as an alert Chief Minister and also as a leader, dedicated to serve the society.

Lucknow, April 21, 2020: Due to lockdown at Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath could not attend the last rites of his father, Anand Singh Bisht, who died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Monday. This exemplary and rare decision itself shows how Yogi Adityanath is giving top priorities to his responsibilities in the fight against coronavirus as an alert Chief Minister and also as a leader, dedicated to serve the society.

"I am very saddened to hear the news of my father's death. My father has always taught me to be faithful, hardworking and selfless. I wanted to be with him in his final moments, but could not due to my responsibility to protect Uttar Pradesh's 23 crore people." said the Chief Minister.

He wrote a heartfelt letter to his mother, expressing his agony at his father’s passing away and also, apologized for not being able to attend his funeral, and to support her at this deepened grief.

With this level of commitments UM CM Yogi Adityanath is fighting the COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh, the country's most populous state, which has reported 1,294 coronavirus cases, including 20 deaths till writing this report.

Even as the news of his father’s demise reached, he appealed to his mother and acquaintances to follow the lockdown rules, and requested all to attend his father’s funeral in a small number of gatherings.

In his last, Mr. Bisht was condoled by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and State Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit.

“A meeting of officials of the core group on COVID-19 was going on since the morning, and during the meeting he received the information of his father’s demise. And despite getting this gloomy news, he continued with the meeting for almost 45 minutes,” said the Director for Information Mr. Shishir.

The meeting held at CM’s Office in the Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, was directed that the students from Kota should be allowed to go their homes after downloading of ArogyaSetu app affiliated to COVID-19.

Lockdown will not be lifted in 19 districts that have reported more than ten Corona positive cases, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said in a meeting conducted through video conferencing with all District Magistrates and police chiefs on Sunday evening.

He said that, no relaxation will be permitted in the sealed hotspots. UP government declared 09 ‘Red Zone’ as COVID-19 positive areas, and the Lucknow was identified with the major 07 Red Zone areas in the North, East and West as hotspots.

The district officials will work out the modalities regarding opening of specified industries, banks and other units in the 56 districts that have reported less than 10 Corona cases.

The Chief Minister, according to the government spokesman, asked all District Magistrates to ensure that safety protocols are strictly followed in their areas and social distancing is maintained even in districts where lockdown is lifted.

To rescue the common people,in a meeting with senior officials, Yogi Adityanath ensured that, “temporary and outsourced employees working in educational institutes, hospitals or offices will get their salaries without any cut for the lockdown period”, on Saturday.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure delivery of the PPE kits and N95 masks in different areas as per requirements, and he is also engaged in reviewing the arrangement of community kitchens to get cautious even in infection free areas.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has registered 24,446 FIRs and booked 71,782 people so far for disobeying lockdown norms, a senior official said. The FIRs were lodged under the Indian Penal Code section 188, which deals with disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant.

Looking at the back of the early days of this pandemic, the famous Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor was found Coronavirus positive, and she recently got discharged after her sixth test which came negative in Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

For hiding her travel history, she was interrogated by the Lucknow police as the FIR was lodged against her at Sarojini Nagar police station under IPC sections 188, 269 and 270.

After many cases that were reported at Lucknow’s Sadar area, the whole place was sealed with the ‘No Entry’ warning board’. The cases were from Tablighi Jamaat event that held at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.

To oversee the conditions, the process of Sanitization is underway to sanitize the mosques and houses of the area by the government to stop the danger of virus.

Dealing with the increasing number of death toll due to Covid-19 in India, UP government tested approximately 3,200 samples in a single day on Friday, in which 104 were found positive.

For the safety purposes, UP police has launched a special 48-hour drive to track around 500 Tablighi Jamaat attendees who are staying in various parts of the state and still remain untraced.

The Government is also on the verge of launching the much awaited Rapid Testing Kits, which basically use antibody-based blood tests, and provide the result in few minutes. And by this the Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the country to make it possible.

Contributing to the UP Covid Care Fund, all the respective teaching and non-teaching staff of various universities and the colleges have donated their one day salary, which almost collected more than Rs. 10 Crores.

In this cooperative initiative, the State’s Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath was handed over with the cheque by deputy chief minister Mr. Dinesh Sharma and higher education principal secretary Ms. Monika Garg.

Mr. Sudhir Garg, The UP principal secretary of forest, has conveyed that his department has appointed a nodal officer for the plantation in the state, which should be increased during the lockdown phase.

By observing the present scenario and the initiatives taken by the UP government, the chief of Bahujan Samaj Party, Ms. Mayawati also welcomed and appreciated the dealing efforts.

Yogi Adityanath instructed his officer with a message that ‘No one should remain hungry’ in the entire state, and also tried to provide ration twice in a month to all the ration card holders for at least three months (April to June).

The UP government has announced to give the financial aid of Rs. 1,000 to each necessitous people, along with those migrants who were abdicated from urban and rural areas in the course of lockdown.
