The rule of the game will entirely change in every nook and corner. From now onwards, we all have to transform our working patterns and behaviors. The education systems as well as the industry practices are taking a toll at all levels.
The institutions will have to create a new environment for teaching and learning and the stakeholders will have to adapt it mandatorily. The institutions will have to imbibe all possible digital platforms and create a new infrastructure to impart education in order to increase its accessibility and reachability amongst masses.
The academicians will have to incorporate innovative methods to make their classes more participative, even if they are taking place virtually.
As per the MHRD and UGC guidelines and advisories, coming from time to time, adequate training for the use of ICT and online teaching tools would be required so that the faculty members complete about 25% of the syllabus through online teaching.
Not only this, e-content/ e-lab experiments have to be prepared for virtual classrooms.Online modes such as Google Classroom, Google Hangout, Cisco Webex Meeting, You Tube Streaming, SWAYAM platforms should be practiced for teaching- learning process.
The assessments would also be through MCQ/ OMR based examinations, Open Book Examination, Open Choices or assignment/ presentation-based.
On the other hand, the recipients, be it students or their parents will have to accept this paradigm shift in learning practices. Specifically in the tertiary education, the learner will have to acclimatize with this challenging milieu as the employment scenario in the coming future is bound to change.
Only those who will become accustomed to these revolutionary changes will persist. In future the recruitment drives may also have online assessments via proctored MCQ tests and video-conferencing based interviews. The expectations of the corporates will be no more corporate ready, instead they will look for candidate who are digitally ready.
The above changes holds true with industries as well. Only those who are ready to look forward and find new avenues of running their businesses will cope up and stride through. They will have to contemplate novel revenue modelsin order to strike a balance between their unforeseen expenditures and sources of incomes.
So let us all fasten our belts and pull up our socks to take a ride of a new virtual world filled with lots of expectations and responsibilities for one and all in order to confirm our survival.
