Beautification of Andhra Cities guided by environmental friendly

approach: Reddy

Landscape Urbanism is the theory to beautify cities not taking its building into account but its ecology, climate and environment putting more emphasis on greening. Landscape Industries Association, India organized a one-day seminar on Landscape Urbanism at Ahmadabad on Aug 25, 2018.  

On this occasion, many stalwarts of the industry participated with enthusiasm as it is the high time to address the issue of environmental damage by concretization in urban periphery.  

N Chandramohan Reddy, Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Urban Greening & Beautification Corporation Limited presented his view on the subject citing the example, how beautification of cities in Andhra Pradesh is guided by the environmental friendly approach. 

Ajay Kaushik, Assistant Director, Horticulture, Delhi Tourism & Transportation Corporation enlightened the gathering with his idea of coloring the city not with colorful building but with trees, shrubs, and other planting material. Presentation by Raosaheb Borgude, Senior Manager, Horticulture, Reliance Industries Ltd, was exclusively on smart and intelligent ways of water management in urban areas. Pradeep Barpande, Managing Director, ELT India, focused on innovative, modern and sustainable landscaping ideas in urban areas through vertical and rooftop gardens in small to medium spaces. Dr. H.P.Sumangala, Sr. Scientist, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research presented scientific views of using native plants for sustainable landscaping in cities.  

Kishore D Pradhan, a renowned Architect from Mumbai was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award for his four decades of relentless contribution in the field of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He in his speech expressed his opinion on incorporating green elements right at planning level so that at least upcoming projects can comply with the idea of landscape urbanism.

Prof. Utpal Sharma, Director, College of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University presented thorough academic insight on landscape urbanism. Lokendra Balasaria, Principal Architect, La Spazio Design expressed concern over environmental degradation in designing new project and guided the gathering with unique solution through his presentation. 

Prem Tiwari, General Secretary, Landscape Industries Association called for getting organized and move forward for better tomorrow as this sector is still unorganized and unrecognized. Srinivas Badarayani, President of the Association clarified the vision of its ideology and future planning. Pramod Ballal, Vice President emphasized on skill development programmes in different cities by the association. Joint Secretary Snehal Dave and D.P. Goyal requested for international exposure for its member to compete in the global market through the overseas tour and interactive get together with international associations.
