King Goodwill Zwelithini to Celebrate Diwali In Association With The Sivananda World Peace Foundation

OSUTHU ROYAL PALACE, OCTOBER 23, 2020:

Mr Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu, The Founder of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation together with His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekhuZulu, King of the Zulu Nation will be celebrating Diwali on Saturday the 31st of October 2020, at 15 pm to 20 pm at the Osuthu Royal Palace  in Kwa Nongoma.

During Diwali there is an air of freedom, festivity and friendliness everywhere and this festival brings about unity. It instills charity in the hearts of people, they embrace one another with love and Diwali is a great unifying force said His Majesty.

His Majesty said our country has seen a new democracy, which makes up our rainbow nation of various races , cultures, linguistic, ethnic and religious groups.

His Majesty has highlighted that we are South Africans and that we all must celebrate Diwali together as one nation and these events highlight social cohesion.

All communities should respect one another despite our religion or nationality. This event is very historic as it takes place at the Royal Palace. As the Monarch, I am delighted to Celebrate Diwali together with my people of my kingdom of KwaZulu Natal, especially my hindu brothers and sisters. His Majesty has in the past years hosted Diwali Celebrations in Ulundi, Nongoma and in Richards Bay.

Mr Ishwar Ramlutchman , Philanthropist and humanitarian gave thumbs up to make this year’s Diwali Celebrations part of a larger society in promoting unity in diversity.

Mr Ishwar said that Diwali is a symbol of hope for all South Africans to unite as one nation. We need to come together to celebrate the rich heritage that our forefathers have kept alive since they arrived in South Africa in 1860.

This year marks the 160 years since the arrival of indentured labourers to KwaZulu Natal. This historic event will also highlight the struggle and hardships the 1860 indentured labourers faced during those trying times. I Salute His Majesty The King, King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuZulu for  Celebrateing Diwali annually.

This is a clear indication of His Majesty’s commitment in fostering good relations and promoting oneness amongst citizens of our country.

This is a milestone in the history of the Zulu Monarch and our country at large. This year His Majesty, King of the AmaNdebele Kingdom, King Makhosonke Mabhena II will also be present at the 6th Diwali Celebrations .

Talking about the Celebration of Diwali, His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelithini Ka-BhekuZulu Said,“This is the best display of the democratic practices. We are implementing the Right to freedom of religion and Right to culture. Which is on Chapter 2 on the Bill of Rights on South African Constitution 108 of 1996. In religion there is belief, customs and cultural values. All this is not only about tolerance but it is about acceptance. This gathering spelt out clear the acceptance for one another. Not only the tolerance.”

“We gathered on this August event to celebrate the brightness once life. It is the celebration of brightness over darkness. I like culture because its emphasis is on the things be done before light. As my bible says “Walk in the light of God”, celebrating each other’s culture shows we are prepared to stay together. We cannot change the fact that we need each other as South Africans,” he said.

There will be people of all races from people from Ladysmith, Johannesburg, Pheonix, Chatsworth, Stanger, Richards Bay will be attending this event. There will also be the Khoisan community that is going to attend this event as well.

There will be many cultural items from both the Hindu community and the Zulu community. There will also be a fireworks display . We will also enjoy a spread of Indian Vegetarian Cuisine that will be presented on that day.

Due to covid 19 a limited number of people will be invited in accordance with the covid 19 regulations and protocols.
